Quick Story Line
Eighteen months after outwitting the FBI, the remaining members of the Four Horsemen—J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco)—are in hiding in New York City, awaiting further instructions from The Eye, the secret society of magicians they’ve been recruited into. Atlas, having grown tired of waiting for a mission, seeks out The Eye himself. His search leads him to an underground tunnel in which he hears a voice that tells him that his wait may be coming to an end.
The Horsemen’s handler, FBI Special Agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), ultimately assigns them a new mission, exposing corrupt businessman Owen Case (Ben Lamb), whose new software secretly steals data on its users for Case’s benefit. Lula May (Lizzy Caplan) is added to the team to replace former member Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), who has left the Horsemen after breaking up with Atlas.
Now You See Me 2 is one of the summer’s better movies as it faces close competition with The Conjuring 2 in the box office. In the follow-up to the highly successful Now You See Me, the film adds more magic tricks and illusions that will leave the audience amazed and scratching to their heads as the film shows that magic cannot be outwitted by science.
The film ensembles both well-known old and new faces which are such as Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Daniel Radcliffe and Jay Chou. The director Jon M. Chu also adds more spectacles to the film in terms of linking up the plot of the first movie Now You See Me and pushing the boundaries of magic.
The film opens one year later with after the members of the Four Horsemen J. Daniel Atlas who is portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, Merritt Mckinney who is portrayed by Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco who is portrayed by Jack Wilder goes into hiding in waiting for another mission from the Eye. The Eye is a secret organisation of magicians that has recruited the Four Horsemen and will give them missions to perform. Daniel grows tired of waiting for instructions from The Eye and comes out of hiding to look for The Eye. However, his rash actions soon expose The Four Horsemen to more trouble as old enemies look to reunite in bringing an end to the horsemen theatrics.

The arena-filling magicians with a penchant for robbing the super-rich to refund their audiences return for another round of digitally finessed illusion in this bustling caper sequel. Since its predecessor revealed that Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and compadres were unwittingly in the employ of moonlighting FBI agent Mark Ruffalo, where next for the so-called Four Horsemen? Well, Lizzy Caplan takes over from Isla Fisher as the token feisty female member, the gang find themselves tangling with evil tech-magnate Daniel Radcliffe (trying a bit too hard), while the previous movie's veteran illusionist-debunker Morgan Freeman plots his revenge from a prison cell. First-time around, the trickery seemed fresh enough to dazzle an audience glad of a break from the treadmill of superhero flicks, but here it's become a struggle to turn the material into a viable franchise. With miles of convoluted exposition to get through, the magicians themselves have little opportunity to strut their stuff - and when they do, their tricks are so patently movie effects that any sense of illusion is lost.
Summary
A gang of magicians-turned-criminals is reunited for a comeback performance by a ruthless technology magnate, who se actual goal is to force the team into carrying out a seemingly impossible heist on his behalf. The illusionists realise their only hope of avoiding the law is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to expose the businessman's illegal activities.
